Daniel, Hussey & Saucier Win Championship Titles

2015 Hidden Meadows Club Champions. Stacey Hussey, Cole Daniel and David Saucier. Congratulations to all three of you. Great job!

Old Town High School junior Cole Daniel became the youngest player ever to win the Open Division of the Club Championship at Hidden Meadows Golf Course last week, firing rounds of 77-79. He finished two strokes ahead of runner-up Bill Fernandez. Fernandez, who led by one stroke with two holes to play, finished bogey-bogey, while Daniel chipped in for birdie on the par 3 8th (his 17th hole of the day), then finished with a par to secure the win. 2010 champion Ronnie Morin finished in a tie for third with Chris Kauppila, both shooting 160 over the two-day event. 2014 defending champion Ray Hussey led after the first round with 76, and finished 4th overall with 162.

Stacey Hussey won the Women’s Division for the fourth straight year, firing rounds of 80 and 83. Maggie Hussey finished in second place.

David Saucier won the Senior Championship for the second time, shooting a solid 81 the first round, then hung on to shoot an 82 during the second round, topping runner-up Ed Lucas by two shots. Lucas made up four shots on Saucier over the last three holes, but ran out of time, finishing with solid rounds of 83 and 82. Alan Hussey finished third with 167 and Ed Lanigan shot 168 to take fourth place.

Daniel also won the Junior Division of the Club Championship. Sophomore Chris Kauppila took second place with rounds of 81-79, while his older brother Wes came in third place with 166 for the two rounds. Wes had the low 9 of the weekend in the junior division, firing an impressive one-over-par 36 during his second nine holes on Saturday.

We had a record turnout of 33 players this year. Congratulations to everyone on a great tournament.
