Course Updates: Wednesday, May 10th

Here’s the latest update on the happenings here at Hidden Meadows Golf Course:

As everyone is painfully aware, this hasn’t been a stellar spring, except maybe for beavers and ducks (side contest: be the first to name the movie reference and we’ve got free golf balls for you). With temperatures well below seasonal average, rainfall being moderately above seasonal average, and not many sunny days, the course is pretty wet.

The weather and subsequent course conditions have pushed back the starting dates for our Monday Night Scramble, our Tuesday Morning Senior League, our Thursday Morning Women’s League and our Sunday Afternoon Couples League. As things stand right now, it looks like beginning the week of May 22nd we should be able to get everything started.

We have our first two events of the year coming up shortly. On Saturday, May 20th, the 4th Annual Ernest H. Philbrick Memorial Golf Tournament is being held. Then on Saturday, May 27th, Hidden Meadows is hosting the annual Little Cup Scramble. Both events are scheduled for an 8 a.m. shotgun start. We will post complete details for both of these tournaments a little bit later today.

We have been able to do some limited work on the course, keeping the greens and tees mowed by hand. Because of the cooler temperatures, nothing else has really been growing very much. But once the temperature and the grass pops, we’ll be ready. Chad and Jim have been working over all of our mowers and they are all set for the season.

We’re also building a new storage shed by the back door of the clubhouse (yes, we got the proper permits 😉 ), and have learned about pouring concrete slabs and putting together pre-fab structures.

So in spite of the weather, we’ve been keeping busy, and are continuing to prepare for the upcoming season, whenever it does decide to arrive.

The course, driving range, putting green, practice bunker and clubhouse are open every day from 7 a.m. until dark. We’re running green fee specials until things dry up enough to get the carts on the course.

We’ve got lots of great deals on golf bags, golf balls, gloves, apparel, and new and used drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, wedges, putters and iron sets.

Thanks for being patient everyone. It’s not easy (or fun) when we have a spring like this. Hopefully we’ll be rewarded with a fantastic summer and fall. Looking forward to better weather and to seeing everyone.
