  1. Kauppila Defends Crown; Fernandez and St. Peter Win Championships

Chris Kauppila defended his Hidden Meadows club championship crown over the weekend with rounds of 78 and 74. His 152 total was seven shots clear of Lucas Shorette and Bill Fernandez, who tied for second place with 159.

Fernandez won the senior division, shooting 79 and 80 for his 159 total, while Kristy St. Peter won the women’s division toured the course with rounds of 96 and 91. Terry Grant was the senior division runner-up with 173 (90-83) while Michele Kauppila took second place honors in the women’s division with 198 (100-98). (more…)

  2. We are aerating the greens today

Just a reminder to everyone, we are punching the greens today. The course is open but most of the greens will be closed until later this afternoon, and the flags will be set out in front of the greens. For today only, it’s $10 for all you can play, $5 per person for carts.

We are still having our Monday Night Scramble tonight. The draw is at 5:05, starting time 5:15. It’s our annual Par 3 challenge. Every hole will be set up as a par 3. Brad has come up with some fun and interesting tee shots for everyone.

  3. Getting Dialed In On Our New 4th Green

The other day I was hitting some shots to our new #4 green, which is currently under construction. It plays 211 yards from the back tee and is slightly down hill, so I figured 4-iron ought to be about right.

On my first shot “Mr. Snappy” showed up (Mariners fans, remember the old Randy Johnson ‘Mr. Snappy’ commercials back in the mid-90’s when the M’s were relevant?). Good thing there wasn’t anyone on the white tees on #5. Then I hit a couple to the right, a couple more to the left, and as I was running out of golf balls, I finally flushed a couple.

When I got up to the green, my ‘flushed’ shots would have been in the cavernous bunker that will be protecting this ‘Redan’ style hole. As I was sitting there thinking ‘you’ve got to be kidding me,’ it reminded me of a golf joke I heard back when I was in college. (more…)

  5. Test the 2019 Mizuno Irons on Monday, August 20th

How cool would it be to be the first person in the state of Maine to hit the new 2019 Mizuno irons? On Monday, August 20th at 4 p.m., you will have that chance!

Brian Uvena, Mizuno’s Maine territory manager, will be at Hidden Meadows Golf Course from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. with Mizuno’s brand new 919 iron line. The new models include the 919 Tour, the 919 Forged and the 919 Hot Metal.

This will be Brian’s first time showing the new clubs in this state. Orders are being taken now, production begins the end of this month, and the new iron sets will be delivered directly to your front door, straight from the Mizuno factory, right around September 7th.

So make sure to mark your calendar for Monday, August 20th at 4 p.m. Then when you’re done hitting the new clubs, stick around for the Monday Night Scramble. $20 covers your golf, a cart, the scramble and a chance at some other great prizes. And who knows, maybe Brian will stick around and team up with Joe and Brad for the scramble to take on all challengers!

    Looking forward to seeing everyone!
